While we worked pretty hard to put on the inline comp at NASS 2010, we still had a little time on our hands and with Aragon and friends killing it all weekend, it wasn’t exactly hard to get clips. Here are a few little gems you might not have seen yet from Kingdom’s Ed Inglis.

NASS 2010 street comp from Ed Inglis on Vimeo.

Day three has rolled around bringing with it the Pro final and best trick contests on the street course and the Pro mega ramp final as well. The street inal saw Brian Aragon take the win, with Roman Godinaire coming a close second and Steve Swain coming third.

The mega ramp final saw Roman Godinaire win overall with Adam Brown coming second and Alex Burston and Taylor Letouche taking joint third. Tricks of note included a double backflip and a fakie 1260!

The best trick final came last and after some super crazy stuff went down Steve Swain did misty flips and 900s out of the course and Danny Aldridge landed a perfect flat 5 over the huge channel to tie the comp and split the money.

It’s been a great NASS once again this year with huge crowds watching amazing rollerblading and getting to see what’s really up with our sport. If you missed it, you missed out so make sure you book a long weekend off work next year. You know where you need to be.

Keep your eyes pealed and your browser logged on to Kingdom for all of the highlights and crazy edits from this year’s festival.

We’ve managed to make it to day two of NASS 2010. The AM comp went down this morning with huge crowds cheering on Andy Gilbert to first place with Danny Aldridge and Jamie Stenner coming in second an third. Taylor Latouce and Blake Bird qualified fourth and fifth and all five go through to tomorrows pro final.

Amazing skating went down from everyone who entered which was a minor miracle considering the amazing amount of alcohol everyone drank last night. Stay tuned for more updates people.

NASS 2010 is finally here. Today we held the open qualifier for Saturdays AM comp, with Andrew Cunliffe qualifying in first place, Dan Collins and Sam Davis coming in second and third. Meanwhile Joe Atkinson shaved the word CUSHTY into the back of his head and Sam Tuffnell has already made an example of himself.

Jamie Stenner tied the knot with his long term lady Rikki back in January and spent his honeymoon out in Australia. He managed to squeeze in some blading and got some shots with our man Dale Travers whilst he was there. Check it.

You got married in the midst of the white out in January, did that affect your wedding at all?

Yeah, we got married on the 9th January when the snow was at it’s worst - we definitely had a white wedding. The snow didn’t have a direct effect on our wedding apart from the photo’s outside the church being a ‘lil rushed due to Rikki and her bridesmaids turning blue.

The weather did have a slight effect on our reception as some of our friends who were gunna travel down couldn’t due to road closures etc… Even with the snow drama, I wouldn’t have changed it for the world - best day of my life!

How long were you guys together before you tied the knot?
Me and Rikki had been going out for 9 years before we got married.

Did you get down on one knee? Tell us about the proposal.
Yeah man, I dropped to my knee - I wanted to do it all proper. On Saturday 10th January 09 after we both got back from work I made Rikki a sit down meal with Candles, wine and the works (which is irregular for me) and asked her at the end of the meal. I was so nervous is was necking beers like there was no tomorrow and kept checking that I hadn’t lost the engagement ring. I was pretty sure she’d say yes, I just wanted it to be a memorable evening for her…

Why did you choose Australia as your honeymoon destination?
Australia has been somewhere me and Rikki have always talked about going, but with me running ESP and Rikki also working in retail, it never seemed possible to get the time off work. So when we were planning our honeymoon we instantly knew were we were gunna go.

You seemed to do a lot of blading whilst you were out there, what did Mrs Stenner have to say about that?
Mrs Stenner is so down for my skating it’s unbelievable, I met her our local skate park in Chichester. Since then she’s come to all the events and spots she can and also skates the mini at our local park every now and again too.
jamie-topsoul-beerwah-large

What were the highlights of your trip?
So many good things to mention - the beaches, the sun, the spots, the bowls / plaza’s, the people, Bunderburg ginger beer, learning to wake-board, riding jet ski’s. The whole trip was such a banger!

What have you got planned now you’re back in the UK?
Back to reality, me and Rikki are doing grown up things like opening joint bank accounts and changing names on passports, drivers licence etc. I’m doing my best to make ESP reach it’s full potential and skating as much as possible whilst enjoying married life…..all that good shit!

I just wanna say thanks to Joe for writing the questions and giving me this opportunity and Dale for taking care of me and Rikki so good and taking these shots - really appreciated!

Remember that guy that had more front Unity front covers than anyone ever? (this might not be a fact) The dude who floated flat 3s with a steez like no one else? Guy Crawford was a pillar of the UK scene for a long time before disappearing across the pond. Kingdom caught up with Guy in our first, ‘Where in the World is’ feature. (we’re working on a catchier name, email suggestions please.)

Where in the world are you Guy Crawford?
Living in an apartment in downtown Toronto, Canada with my wife Julie and two kittens, Gatsby and Yarn.

guy1

What made you move to Canada?
I met Julie while visiting Kevin Chow (a rollerblading friend) and immediately knew she was “The One”… Air quotes suck, but she deserves them. After extending my return flight a week, I flew back to the UK, saved up for two months, quit my job and moved to Toronto to live with her. We got married in March this year.

Any glaring differences between the Canadian scene and the UK scene?
The Canadian scene is a lot smaller than the UK and with less representation, despite it being the second largest country in the world and having the USA as their nearest neighbours. There are two skateshops to cover all of the country, and neither of them are based in Toronto. As a result, those of us who do skate are dedicated, don’t give a shit about recognition and are generally older- our group of skaters downtown are all between 24 and 30. This means less competition, more socialising. Also, Canada has no chavs -they simply don’t exist as a species- so we’re free to roam as we please. There is a lot of street to skate, and with Canada being a fairly new country most of it is perfect. In contrast to the English Drizzle, we get four months of knee deep snow in Toronto, so we snowboard or skate our indoor vert in the winter.

What do you miss most about the UK?
Until recently, a good cider was the only thing missing! Then last week I found Stowford Press in our local off-licence, so other than missing my friends and family, I honestly don’t miss it, just some of the people. Ah, not true! I miss the suspension bridge in Bristol. Don’t you get sick of paying through the nose for everything and being surrounded by such a selfish society? People are actually nice to each other here : )

Favourite Canadian bladers?
My local gents- Dave Ghent, Taylor Ritchie, Kevin Chow, Dan Lefebre, the Aarons and Erik Burrow are the skaters I rate from Toronto; grownups who’ve been skating long enough to have developed style and personality in their skating. From elsewhere in Canada I love watching Leon Basin and AJ Delong from Vancouver skate, Mike David from Simcoe is a badass and Stephane Julien from Montreal (stunt double for the film 300) is one of the happiest, funnest rollers I’ve met to skate with, a self-professed park rat. I’m lucky have such a great group of friends to skate with.

Favourite British bladers?
That’s a tough question because there are so many and I’m out of touch! Matt Woods is insanely talented and a great friend. I’ve seen great potential from Dan Ives and would love to see him deliver on that. Its great to see Chaz continuing along his path and I look forward to watching him progress! I miss Jake Eley, Senór Coyne and Joby. The Bristol scene will always be something I look back on happily. Andreas Larfors is awesome at rollerblading, Matt Smith is the second coming. Shit! Hard question. Sean Escott and Frey are so good to watch skating. Ummm, who else? Jon Hubbard! Is this a popularity contest? These are people I find interesting to watch and that’s all I can think of right now. Apologies to the glaringly obvious omissions.

Mr and Mrs Crawford

Plans for the next few years?
Enjoying my new life with my wife. We’re planning to have kids fairly soon, so just getting on with everything : ) Career, house, skating, fatherhood… There’ll definitely be trips back to the UK in there. We set up a blog (www.rolltoronto.ca) so you can keep up to speed with our back royales and holiday photos there. Hugs to all my friends in the UK, I miss you guys, come visit!
